Representatives from 10 schools across the Atlantic Region will participate

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will hit the court this weekend as they host the 2015 edition of the Hokie Fall Invite at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg. The tournament will begin Friday morning and run through Sunday and will feature teams from all across the Atlantic Region.

Play will begin Friday morning beginning at 8 A.M. with two rounds of doubles followed by a round of singles. Saturday will feature a round of both doubles and singles before the action wraps up Sunday with the final rounds of each.

Visiting Blacksburg this weekend for the tournament will be players from JMU, Towson, Penn State, Wofford, VCU, Radford, Morehead State, Miami of Ohio and Division II’s Armstrong Atlantic. The Hokies round out the tenth team for this busy weekend that will include nine flights of singles play and three flights of doubles.

Eleven of the 13 players on the Hokies’ roster will play matches this weekend across the various flights. The flights will be named after Virginia Tech’s colors (Orange, Maroon, White) as well as the eight Pylons on Tech’s campus that are a staple of the university (Brotherhood, Honor, Leadership, Sacrifice, Service, Loyalty, Duty, and Ut Prosim).

The Hokies kicked off the Fall season two weekends ago at the Wolfpack Inivitational on the campus of N.C. State. Highlighting the event for Tech was Raluca Mita, who came out on top of her singles flight.
