Fusinato falls in first round of NCAA Singles Championship
UCLA's Harrison wins it 6-4, 6-3

WACO, TEXAS - Virginia Tech sophomore Francesca Fusinato dropped her first round NCAA Championship match to UCLA’s No. 33-ranked Catherine Harrison on Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

Harrison took the match in two sets by a score of 6-4, 6-3. No. 51 Fusinato come out of the gates hot in the first set, going up 3-0 before ultimately losing the set. Harrison lived up to her high ranking and eliminated Fusinato with a 6-3 win in the second set.

Fusinato finishes the year with a 14-9 record in singles play. She is currently ranked No. 51 in the ITA rankings and earned All-ACC Second Team for the second straight season. Today’s match marked only the second NCAA Singles Championship appearance made by a Tech player in program history.
