GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will be the No. 9 seed in this year’s ACC Championship, which begins Wednesday at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.
The Hokies (15-8, 7-7 ACC) will play the No. 8 seeded Boston College (13-11, 7-7 ACC) on Thursday, April 23rd at 3 p.m. The winner of this game will earn a spot in the quarterfinals against the nation and conference’s No. 1-ranked team, North Carolina (26-0, 14-0 ACC).
Tech and Boston College have met once this season on March 20th in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Eagles claimed the match by a count of 5-2.
The ACC’s top four team (#1 UNC, #2 Miami, #3 Duke, and #4 Virginia) will all receive byes and will not play until Friday. Other Thursday matches include #5 Clemson taking on the winner of #12 Syracuse/#13 Louisville, #7 Notre Dame battling #10 Florida State/#15 Pittsburgh’s winner, and #6 Georgia Tech facing the winner of #11 Wake Forest and #14 N.C. State.
The ACC Championship will begin at noon on Wednesday and will conclude with the final match at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Both semifinal matches on Saturday and the championship match on Sunday will be televised on ESPN3.
