BLACKSBURG – The No. 38 Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will travel to Charlottesville to take on in-state rival Virginia on Saturday at 11 a.m. before returning home Sunday to end the regular season with a 1 p.m. match against Louisville. The matches will be the last action for the Hokies before the ACC Tournament next week.
Tech (14-7, 6-6 ACC) had an impressive showing last weekend with a pair of 7-0 wins over NC State and Syracuse, respectively. Tech went a perfect 12-0 in singles play on the weekend, as well as going 4-2 and winning both points in doubles.
No. 50 Francesca Fusinato improved to 13-4 on the year after the weekend and remains the Hokies’ highest ranked player in the ITA poll. Also, Ilinca Stoica jumped two spots from No. 87 to No. 85 after winning her two matches. Freshman Katherine Butler is turning heads as well, having won her last six matches in a row to move to 10-2 on the season.
No. 12 Virginia (16-5, 9-3 ACC) split its matches last weekend, dropping a 4-3 decision to No. 2 UNC before defeating Georgia Tech 5-2 in Atlanta. Virginia has three players in the ITA Top 30, including No. 4 Julia Elbaba, who is 25-5 on the season. No. 22 Danielle Collins and No. 30 Stephanie Nauta are also enjoying stellar seasons for the Cavaliers.

Louisville (11-14, 2-9 ACC) most recently dropped a pair of home matches to a couple of ranked conference opponents in Florida State and Miami last weekend. Manuela Vasquez leads the Cardinals in the wins department with a 13-4 record, while Elle Stokes claims the No. 1 spot for the team.
