Tech boasts national ranking entering 2015 season
Four Hokies among national and regional rankings

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will enter the 2015 season as one of ten Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranking among the top 60 teams in the nation according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The ITA released the first national and regional polls of the spring season Tuesday afternoon, and the Hokies sit at No. 57 prior to their first match of the year.

Junior Raluca Mita is all over both the national and regional ranks, as she holds two national and regional spots on the doubles lists. When teaming with sophomore Francesca Fusinato, the pair sits at No. 36 in the country and No. 3 in the Atlantic Region, and when Mita hits the court with classmate Ilinca Stoica, they rank No. 50 and No. 6, respectively.

Fusinato and Stoica both boast individual rankings, as well. Stoica is the No. 4 player in the Atlantic Region, while Fusinato enters the year at No. 6. Newcomer Elena Cerezo-Codina will make her spring debut as the No. 17 player in the region.

The Hokies open the 2015 season on Sunday, Jan. 18 with a pair of matches at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Tech will take on Radford at 10:30 a.m., and host Davidson that afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
