Tech wraps up Collegiate Clay Court Invitational with two first place finishes
Hokies victorious in both singles and doubles play

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Hokies will head back to Blacksburg with two finals victories after a successful Sunday in Orlando.

Katherine Butler took down No. 1 seeded Silvia Fuentes of Miami in the singles C draw final, securing a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory on her way to being crowned champion. Butler, a freshman, is off to a fast start as a Hokie. She has earned multiple victories in each of her first three Fall tournaments, highlighted by Sunday’s first place finish.

Elena Cerezo-Codina and Sansitha Nandakumar followed Butler’s performance with a finals victory in the doubles B draw, defeating Clemson’s Joana Eidukonyte and Daniela Ruiz in three sets, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10). The duo went a perfect 4-0 in Orlando, building off success that they had in the Hokie Fall Invitational, where they won two matches together.

With the 2014 Collegiate Clay Court Invitational in the books, only the Kitty Harrison Invite in Chapel Hill on November 9th stands between Tech and the end of the Fall season.
