No. 60 Hokies fall to No. 15 Hurricanes

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The No. 60 Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to the No. 15 Miami Hurricanes 7-0 on Friday afternoon.

The Hurricanes took wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to tally the doubles win and gain an early lead. Melissa Bolivar and Kelsey Laurente, ranked No. 40, topped Kelly Williford and Sansitha Nandakumar 8-1 for the No. 2 doubles win. Stephanie Wagner and Lina Lileikite won the No. 3 doubles match over Rebecca Harris and Laura Ramthun 8-0 to clinch the point.

Miami extended its lead to 2-0 when Bolivar topped Ramthun 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6. Monique Albuquerque's 6-0, 6-3 win over Harris pulled the Hurricanes to within one point of the team win.

Wagner secured the win as she tallied Miami's fourth point with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Williford at No. 1.

Laurente added a win over Nandakumar 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3, and Lileikite defeated Raluca Mita 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 slot. Clementina Riobueno's 7-6, 6-0 win over Carol Kahoun at No. 4 rounded out the afternoon.

The Hokies return to action on Sunday as they travel to Florida State to finish the regular season.
