GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior goalkeeper Dayle Colpitts of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Colpitts continued the stellar level of play she has displayed all year this past Sunday in a thrilling 1-0 home victory over No. 9 Notre Dame. The senior recorded her fifth shutout in seven matches (all ACC contests) and made three saves on the day, including a diving stop of a point-blank shot with just two minutes remaining to save the win.

This is Colpitts’ first career ACC weekly honor, though the New Brunswick, Canada native has already secured her place among the Hokies’ all-time greats. After Sunday’s victory, Colpitts sits atop the Virginia Tech career standings in wins (38), shutouts (25) and minutes (6,158). Her career goals-against-average now sits at 1.18, the second-lowest in Tech’s history and just 0.01 behind Ashley Owens (2005-08).

“This was a great award for Dayle and I think it was well-earned,” Head Coach Chugger Adair said. “She worked hard and made the saves that she needed to in order to preserve the shutout on Sunday. We’re also proud of her capturing the career records that she has; it speaks to her continued quality and the longevity of her successful career.

The honor marks Virginia Tech’s first ACC Player of the Week since the 2010 season, when Brittany Michels (2008-11) captured the award. Morgan Brian of Virginia was the other co-recipient of this week's award.

The Hokies will be back in action on Thursday evening, when they welcome Wake Forest to Blacksburg for a 7 p.m. tilt. The Demon Deacons are ranked 19th in the country and the match will be broadcast on ESPN3.
