BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Kelsey Mitchell of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team was selected as one of the 13 Primetime Performers of the Week, as announced Wednesday by CollegeSoccer360.com. This is the second weekly honor for the senior defender.
Mitchell, the veteran central defender for the Hokies helped hold back then-No. 7 Wake Forest in a surprising 3-0 midweek win to close the regular season last Wednesday. The high-quality result provided a big boost for Tech’s hopes for an NCAA at-large berth. Mitchell played a big role in limiting one of college soccer’s top offensive threats, Katie Stengel, while helping limit the Demon Deacons to eight total shots and only two on goal.
Joining Mitchell with this honor is ACC opponent Morgan Brian of Virginia, along Chelsea Botta (Marist), Kristin Carden (VCU), Michelle Cruz (Portland), Vanessa DiBernardo (Illinois), Rachael Doyle (Washington State), Sara Keane (West Virginia), Thea Linkfield (North Florida), Natalie Massey (Longwood), Chloe McDaniel (Cal State Northridge), Rachael McGlinchy (San Diego State), Erin Mitchell (Indiana State) and Sarah Darmanin (Stony Brook).
Stanford’s senior defender Rachel Quon was named CollegeSoccer360.com’s Player of the Week.
