• The No. 19 Hokies step back into the brutal ACC with a 8 p.m. matchup against the top-ranked Florida State

Seminoles, last year’s ACC Champion, Thursday night in Tallahassee, Fla., before heading further south for a 1 p.m. match against the Miami Hurricans Sunday.

THURSDAY’S MATCH

• Thursday marks the fifth team Virginia Tech will face that is ranked nationally

• The Seminoles are the last remaining undefeated team in the nation

• Florida State has only allowed three goals in its first 12 matches, including one in the last 11 games

• The Seminoles have outscored their opponents 29-3 and lead the nation in GAA (.250), shutout percentage (.833) and save percentage (.925)

• Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Wys ranks third in the country in GAA with a .299 throughout 11 games

• Tiffany McCarty leads the Seminoles with six goals, three assists, 31 shots and two game-winners

THE SERIES

• This marks the 12th meeting between the two teams and Florida State leads 10-0-1

• The series dates back to 2002 where the Seminoles beat Virginia Tech 1-0 in at the Miami Tournament

• The Hokies’ only point came in 2008 when Virginia Tech advanced to the second round of the ACC Tournament off a 4-2 advantage in penalty kicks

• The Seminoles have outscored the Hokies 19-3 in the series

• Florida State has been ranked in every meeting except one (2002)

• This is the third meeting Virginia Tech has been ranked in the top 25

• Florida State is just the second top-ranked team the Hokies have faced all-time and are 1-1 in those games

• The Sunday win marked the 25th win under head coach Chugger Adair
