GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four members of the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team were named to the ACC All-Academic women's soccer team, which was announced by conference commissioner John Swofford on Monday. Senior Brittany Michels, sophomore Dayle Colpitts, senior Brittany Popko and sophomore Jazmine Reeves were all honored by the conference for their performance in the classroom and on the field this year. Florida State’s Tori Huster was named the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

"I am very happy to see the accomplishments of our four players,” commented head coach Chugger Adair. “It is a testament to the quality work they bring both on the playing field and the academic aspect of their lives. They continue to keep our standards high and development strong as they balance their time as student-athletes."

Michels earns the conference accolades for the third time in her career. The Virginia Beach, Va., native was named to the VaSID All-State second team as she made a huge impact on Tech’s backline this season. She helped set a new school record in single-season shutouts, as the Hokies blanked 11 teams this season. She became Tech’s all-time leader in career games played with 90 and sits tied for fourth in games started with 75. The apparel, housing and resource management major finished her career with six goals, two assists, 14 points and one-game winner.

Colpitts, a Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada native, is honored for her academic performance for the second-straight year. The biology major has been a staple in the Hokie goal over the last two seasons. The sophomore goalie set the all-time individual single-season shutout record this season with seven, while her 19 career wins ranks second all-time. She is ranked at least fourth in every goalie category for Tech. Colpitts finished the season with 76 saves and seven shutouts, while playing 1610 minutes in goal.

Popko, who hails from Leesburg, Va., is honored for her academic performance for the first time in her career. The midfield defender helped the Hokies set a single-season record in shutouts, as Tech blanked 11 teams. The biochemistry major recorded her second career goal, as she was one of the three Hokies to find the back of the net against No. 17 Texas A&M in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Popko finished her career with two goals, four points and 49 shots as she sits in the top-10 of career games played for Tech.

The Dover, Del., native, Reeves, had a tremendous sophomore campaign as this is her third career ACC honor. The sophomore forward earned a spot on the All-ACC second team this season as well as the ACC All-Freshmen team after the 2010 season. Reeves was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week on Oct. 17 for her game-winner against NC State. The university studies major led the squad in assists with nine, while charting five goals, 89 shots and one game-winner this season.
