“Kelsey Loupee provides creativity and balance to the midfield. Her tactical savvy and technical ability will allow her to really make an impact and combine with the other midfielders to take our attack to the next level.”
Loupee, a four-year letterwinner at Dakota Ridge High School and Littleton, Col., native, captained her teams as a sophomore, junior and senior. She earned First Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore and junior and played club ball for Colorado Rush Nike. She has been a team captain since 2006, and helped her team to a state championship in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Loupee played on the ODP state team for five years and the regional team for four years she was a part of the NSCAA Youth All-Region team in 2010.
“Victoria Parkinson will be a tremendous asset to our attacking core. Her originality and her involvement with the Canadian National Team will help bring a new flair and exciting dynamic to the midfield and front lines.”
Parkinson becomes the second Canadian on Tech’s roster, hailing from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She was a three-year letterwinner at Prince Andrew High School, while also playing for Dartmouth United and Ottawa Fury, along with current Hokie keeper Dayle Colpitts. Parkinson earned the Top Young Player award in 2009 in the Premier Senior Women’s Soccer League and participated in the Nova Scotia Canada Games in 2009. She was also part of the Canadian National Team U17 pool in 2009-2010 and attended two Canadian National Team camps. She helped her team to a first-place finish in the Super-Y league in 2010.
“Jodie Zelenky’s composure and tenacity will help solidify our backline. She’s calm under pressure, comfortable on the ball and strong in the tackle. She reads the game well, and her capability to play out of the back will help us go forward.”
Zelenky is a Mechanicsburg, Pa., native that joins the Hokies after winning four letters at Mechanicsburg High School. A versatile player for her local high school, Zelenky captained her team as a junior and helped her team to the state quarterfinals that same season. In her first three seasons, she was an All-Conference selection, as well as a Mid-Penn All-Star. Zelenky played four years of club ball for the Hershey Kickkats that participated in the PDA and Disney Soccer Showcases and won the State Cup and Jefferson Cup Tournament championships.
“Katie Yensen is a sharp, technically gifted and strong possession player whose vision and finesse in the midfield will allow our team to maintain possession and add some artistry to our combination play. She has the capacity to make others around her better.”
Yensen, a Falls Church, Va., native and four-year letterwinner at McLean High School, was a four-year starter that helped her team to a district championship and trip to the regional finals in 2009. The midfielder earned First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region honors through her career. Yensen played club ball for the McLean Strikers for four seasons, which was one of the top 10 teams in the nation during that time. As a member of the Strikers, Yensen made the Super-Y National All-Tournament team and participated in the Super-Y training camp in 2008. Yensen was also a member of the Region 1 ODP team for four seasons and was an ODP National Tournament Team member.
“Georgie Highton can play anywhere. Her athleticism, pace and creativity in the midfield and up front, along with her strong work ethic and passion for the game will allow her to compete and contribute right away.”
Highton joins the Hokies from Darien, Conn., after earning three letters at Darien High School. She captained her team in 2009 and helped it to the state quarterfinals that same year, as well as in 2010. As a senior, Highton was named team MVP, along with earning All-FCIAC and All-State honors. She played club ball for the Eastern FC Bobcats and was again named team MVP in 2010. Highton was also a member of the Connecticut ODP team and was selected to the ODP Region 1 team as well.
“Helen Butler’s versatility and size will add strength, presence, and depth to our midfield and backline. Her ability to win balls in the air will be important to our team’s success.”
Butler comes to Tech after moving to Palo Alto, Calif., for her senior year. She was a three-year starter and letterwinner at Marvin Ridge High School in North Carolina, before winning her fourth letter at Palo Alto High School as a senior. At Palo Alto, she was named to the All-Tournament team at the Palo Alto Winter Classic Tournament. Butler collected numerous accolades as a junior at Marvin Ridge, including North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association All-Regional team, Southern Carolina All-Conference team and Union County All-Star first team honors. She helped her team to a NCHSAA D3 championship as a junior after making it to the semifinals her sophomore season. After spending four years playing for the Charlotte Soccer Academy club team that annually participated in the Disney Soccer Showcase, Adidas Final IV Showcase and Las Vegas College Showcase, the defender joined the MVLA Avalanche club team as a senior and participated in the Pleasanton Rage and Las Vegas College Showcases, as well as the Nor Cal State Cup.
“Sam Cormode is a smart, intensely motivated player who will add depth and competition to the goalkeeper ranks, pushing both herself and fellow goalkeepers Anna Romeiser and Dayle Colpitts in order to compete for the starting spot.”
Cormode hails from Fairfax, Va., and was a three-year letterwinner at Fairfax High School. The goalkeeper was a three-time Washington Post All-Met honorable mention, while being named First Team All-Concorde District as a sophomore and junior. Cormode was awarded the team’s MVP award as a sophomore and junior, and earned First Team All-Liberty District honors as a senior. As a member of the Loudoun U18 club team, Cormode helped her squad to the Virginia State Cup semifinals and a third-place finish in the Disney Soccer U19 Division Showcase. Cormode was also a member of the Region 1- ’93 Virginia State ODP team that participated in the Region 1 championships in 2008 and the ODP national championships in 2009.
“Ellie Zoepfl’s versatility will also add depth to our team. She’s an intelligent, consistent, and hard working player who reads the game well and keeps things simple. Her enthusiasm and honest work ethic will be important aspects of growing and developing our new team’s midfield.”
Zoepfl, an Ashburn, Va., native, was a four-year letterwinner at Broad Run High School. The midfielder was named to the All-District, All-Region and All-State first teams in 2010. She helped her team to three-straight state championships and scored the game-winning goal in two of those championship games. She was named MVP of the state game in 2008. Zoepfl played club ball for the Loudoun Legends and Loudoun ’92 through the years and helped her teams to the semifinals in the State Cup every year since 2001.
“Danielle King loves to attack out of the back, and her willingness to get forward will add to our numbers in the attack. Her athleticism and technical skill makes her a dangerous option to combine and cross balls in, and her ability to play will also help us keep possession going forward.”
King won four letters at W.T. Woodson High School and hails from Fairfax, Va. She was a two-time First Team All-District honoree, while also being named to the All-Region first team and Washington Post All-Met team as a junior after helping her team to a Patriot District championship. King played three years of club ball for the SYL Washington Freedom team that was a finalist in the U20 National Tournament. She was also a member of the 2005 and 2009 SYL ODP Region team, as well as the 2009 SYL ODP National Select team. She played club ball for McLean Azul and helped her team to six state championships.
