BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior midfielder Jennifer Harvey was named to the CoSIDA/ ESPN The Magazine All-Academic District III first team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) committee on Tuesday. This is the third time Harvey has been honored and the second-straight year she has been named to the first team.
To qualify for such awards, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 GPA and be a starter or important reserve. Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible until they have been at the current institution for one academic year.
Harvey, a chemistry major, is tied for first on the team with six goals this season, while she has also tallied three assists, good for 15 points. She has remained perfect on penalty kicks for the second year in a row, burying both of her attempts this season. The Roanoke, Va., native has seen much recognition for her work in the classroom throughout her career and has also been named to the ACC All-Academic team as a sophomore and junior.
Harvey is currently tied with fellow senior Kelly Lynch for most games ever played at Tech, as both have played in 84 games, and ranks second only to Lynch with 82 career starts. She is tied for seventh all-time with 19 career goals, 11th with eight career assists, seventh with 46 career points and 10th with 114 shots in her career.
