Hokies return to the mat this weekend at University Nationals
Tech sends 11 wrestlers to compete in the freestyle competition

BLACKSBURG – 11 grapplers representing the Virginia Tech wrestling team will head to Akron, Ohio this weekend for the UWW Cadet and University Nationals from June 2-4. The event will be broadcast in its entirety on FloWrestling.com.
All of the Hokies will be competing in the freestyle field, which is set to begin on June 3 at 9 a.m. EST.
Dennis Gustafson, who went 21-8 and finished third at 133 pounds at the ACC Championship last season, will wrestle this weekend at 61 kg along with Ryan Haskett and Dominic Latona. Kyle Norstrem, Brent Moore and Andrew Dunn, a trio that are coming off of strong redshirt campaigns, will also be scrapping in Akron.
Rounding out the contingent is Ryan Blees, who went 12-5 overall and 3-2 in duals as a redshirt sophomore, Cody Hughes, Andrew Mehrholz, Brooks Wilding and Dylan Cook.
Next weekend, rising redshirt sophomore David McFadden will head to Junior World Team Trials while 2017 graduate Ty Walz and assistant coach Frank Molinaro will travel in the Senior Men’s Freestyle World Team Trials. Both events will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska.
