Elizabeth Bose earns academic honor

Junior golfer repeat selection to Google Cloud Academic All-District 3 team

Virginia Tech women’s golfer Elizabeth Bose has been selected to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District 3 Women’s At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA. The district teams are selected by members of CoSIDA and honor the nation’s top student-athletes for their performances in both athletics and in the classroom.

Bose, a junior from Norfolk, Virginia, is one of 10 student-athletes on the District 3 team. A clinical neuroscience and biochemistry double major at Virginia Tech, Bose was awarded the 2017 Skelton Award for Academic Excellence in Athletics, the top academic honor awarded by the Tech athletics department. This is the second consecutive season she has earned the all-district honor.

On the course, Bose led the Hokies in stroke average, at 73.21. She competed in every event for the Hokies this season; with two top five, two additional top 10 and three additional top twenty finishes. Bose became the first player in Virginia Tech women’s golf history to win an individual title, when she won medalist honors at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida in March. Earlier this month, Bose helped lead the Hokies to their first-ever NCAA regional appearance.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher and have at least a 3.30 grade point average.

Bose is one of three golfers and three Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes on the District 3 team. She will now be placed on the national ballot for voting later this month.
