AUSTIN, Texas – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team has a two-day total of 5-over 581 and is tied with Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas A&M for fourth place at the 2018 NCAA Austin Regional on Tuesday. The three-day event is being played at the par 72, 6,341-yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
Amanda Hollandsworth paced Tech again on Tuesday, with a 1-under 71. The redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, is tied for fifth at 3-under 141 and trails leader Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M by four strokes.
Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia is tied for 18th at 144 and Elizabeth Bose, a junior from Norfolk, Virginia is tied for 48th at 150. Allison Woodward, a redshirt junior from Unicoi, Tennessee and Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina are tied for 53rd at 151.
Top-seed Arkansas holds the team lead entering the final round. They have a 21-under 555, 11 strokes ahead of host Texas. Florida is third at 578, three strokes ahead of the Hokies, Bears, Sooners and Aggies. Auburn is eighth at 583, Michigan State and BYU are tied for ninth at 587 and UTSA is 11th at 593.
The Hokies are making their first ever NCAA appearance. The program is in its third year of existence.
The final round will be played on Wednesday morning. The Hokies will be grouped with Baylor and Oklahoma and will begin at 9 a.m. from the first tee.
