Final Results
The Virginia Tech women’s golf team posted a three round total of 913 and finished in sixth place at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The two-day event, hosted by Kennesaw State University, was played at the par 72, 6,032-yard Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw.
The Hokies shot 302 in the morning round on Monday and 309 in the afternoon round. Tech shot a final round 302 on Tuesday
Elizabeth Bose, a junior from Norfolk, Virginia led the Hokies at Kennesaw. She finished tied for 23rd place at 227, 17 strokes behind medalist Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State.
Amanda Hollandsworth, redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, tied for 27th place individually at 228 and Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, and Jessica Spicer, a sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, tied for 30th at 229. Anne Taylor Hough, a junior from Spartanburg, South Carolina, tied for 37th at 234. Hollandsworth eagles the par 5, 486-yard 16th hole on Tuesday.
Kent State, ranked 19th nationally, claimed the team title with an 9-over 873, seven strokes ahead of Ole Miss. Host Kennesaw State was third at 884, Augusta was fourth at 892 and Coastal Carolina was fifth at 893, 20 strokes ahead of the Hokies. Troy was seventh at 915, Delaware was eighth at 929, Georgia Southern was ninth at 938, Eastern Michigan was 10th at 948 and UNC Greensboro was 11th.
The Hokies will return to action April 8-10, as they compete in the Brickyard Championship in Macon, Georgia. The three-day event is hosted by Mercer at the Brickyard at Riverside Golf Club.
