Hokies travel to Henssler Intercollegiate
Tech continues spring schedule with second of three Georgia tournaments
March 25, 2018
The Virginia Tech women’s golf team travels to Kennesaw, Georgia to compete in the Henssler Intercollegiate. The two-day event, hosted by Kennesaw State University, will be played at the par 72, 6,032-yard Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Monday and Tuesday.
The 52nd-ranked Hokies are the only ACC team in the 11-team field. Ninteenth-ranked Kent State, the defending champion of the event, highlights the field that includes six top 75 teams. The Hokies finished eighth in last year’s tournament.
Amanda Hollandsworth will play in the first position for the Hokies. The redshirt junior from Floyd, Virginia, had her best collegiate finish last week in Augusta, placing third individually at the 3M Augusta Invitational. She is second in scoring average for the Hokies this season.
Elizabeth Bose will play second for Tech. The junior from Norfolk, Virginia, earned her first collegiate win at the Hurricane Invitational earlier this month. She leads the team in stroke average this season and, on top of earning the program’s first-ever individual title in Miami, has an additional top five and three additional top 20 finishes for the Hokies, including a 15th place finish at the 3M Augusta Invitational last weekend.
Emily Mahar, a freshman from Brisbane, Australia, will play in the third spot for the Hokies. Mahar tied for 32nd individually at the Hurricane Invitational and is third in scoring for the Hokies this season.
Jessica Spicer is fourth for the Hokies. The sophomore from Bahama, North Carolina, has started every event for Tech this season. She is fifth in scoring average for Tech this season.
Anne Taylor Hough, a junior from Spartanburg, South Carolina, makes her spring debut in the fifth position in the starting line-up at Kennesaw. She is fourth in scoring average and started all four tournaments for the Hokies in the fall.
The event will feature 36 holes of competition on Monday and 18 holes of competition on Tuesday, with both days beginning with a 9 a.m. shot gun start.
