The Virginia Tech women’s golf team finished 13th at the Greenville Regional Preview on Tuesday. The event was played at the par 72, 6,133-yard Brooke Valley Country Club, in Greenville, North Carolina.
Tech posted a three-round team score of 86-over par 950. TCU won the event, leading the field at 31-over par with a total score of 895, while Augusta (+49) and Kansas State (+50) finished second and third, respectively. The event was suspended due to darkness on Monday night and the Hokies had to complete the final two holes of the second round on Tuesday morning before beginning the final round.
Freshman Jessica Spicer paced the Hokies at 15-over par (71-80-80=231) and tied for 20th place overall. Of note, the Bahama, North Carolina, native shot a career-best 1-under 71 in the first round of competition.
Sophomore Elizabeth Bose finished three strokes behind Spicer, tying for 32nd overall (81-76-77=234).
Redshirt sophomore Amanda Hollandsworth tied for 57th with a total score of 87-76-77=240. Sophomore Anne Taylor Hough tied for 81st overall. Senior Whitney Stevenson finished the tournament 92nd. Freshman Katie Muscatello played the tournament as an individual, placing 91st overall.
The Hokies will conclude their fall season this weekend, as they travel to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Cardinal Cup on Oct. 23-25.
