Hokies poised to compete against nation's best
Tech athletes open up 2015 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships tomorrow

EUGENE, Ore. - Nine student athletes will begin a quest for a national title tomorrow as the Hokies compete against that nation’s elite at the 2015 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Oregon at Historic Hayward Field.

On the men’s side Marek Barta (discus), Thomas Curtin (5000), Brad Johnson (pole vault), Tomas Kruzliak (hammer) and Stuart Robertson (steeplechase) while the women will be represented by Hanna Green (800), Sabine Kopplin (javelin), Irena Sediva (javelin), and Amanda Smith (1500).

Wednesday
Tomas Kruzliak, Hammer Throw (finals), 4:30 PM ET
Brad Johnson, Pole Vault (finals), 7 PM ET
Stuart Robertson, Steeplechase (semis) 7:38 PM ET

Thursday
Amanda Smith, 1500 M (semis) 7:14 PM ET
Irena Sediva and Sabine Kopplin, Javelin (finals), 8:30 PM ET
Hanna Green, 800 M (semis) 8:44 PM ET

Friday
Marek Barta, Discus (finals), 7:05 PM ET
Stuart Robertson (if advances from Weds), Steeplechase (finals) 7:57 PM ET

Saturday
Amanda Smith (if advances from Thurs), 1500 M (finals) 5:15 PM ET
Hanna Green (if advances from Thurs), 800 M (finals) 6:20 PM ET

There has been a change in the format of the NCAA Championships beginning this season with the men’s and women’s competition being separated into different days. The Men’s Championships will be contested on Wednesday and Friday with the women competing on Thursday and Saturday. The first two days consist of semifinal heats on the track (exception of the 10,000 final) with finals in the field events.

The ESPN Family of networks will carry all of the action over the course of the four days both online and on broadcast. Here is the breakdown of where to watch:

Wednesday – ESPNU (4-7:30 p.m.)
Thursday – ESPNU (4-5:30 p.m.); ESPN (5:30-8:30 p.m.)
Friday – ESPN (4:30-7 p.m.)
Saturday – ESPN2 (2-4:30 p.m.)

Wednesday-Saturday – ESPN3 (Field Events/Combined Events)
