AKRON, Ohio – The Virginia Tech pole vaulters will kick off the 2014 indoor track and field season for the Hokies at the Akron Pole Vault Convention in Akron, Ohio on Friday evening.
Last year the Hokies saw a tremendous amount of success in the pole vault. Current Hokie Torben Laidig won the 2014 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championship in the pole vault while former Hokie great Stephan Munz won the outdoor title. On the women’s side, Martina Schultze, the most-decorated female Hokie pole vaulter in Virginia Tech track & field history, won both the indoor and outdoor titles for the second consecutive year, giving her a total of five ACC Championships.
