Joseph claims national title in 1500 at USATF Junior Championships
Freshman earns right to compete for Team USA at IAAF World Junior Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Patrick Joseph won the men’s 1500-meter race at the USATF Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships to earn a spot to compete at the IAAF World Junior Championships later this month.

After winning the preliminary race and advancing to the finals with a time of 3:52.05, Joseph ran an even better race in the final winning it with an impressive time of 3:49.76.

Other Hokies competing at the meet were Jasmine Mitchell who finished in 13th in the preliminary rounds of the 400-meter race and Christine London who finished in 15th overall in the preliminary rounds of the 400-meter hurdles.

Joseph will compete for Team USA at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships held in Eugene, Ore. on July 22-27.
