Junior earns All-America honors for sixth time in her career

EUGENE, Ore. – Martina Schultze earned a bronze medal in the women’s pole vault to pace the Hokies on the third day of the NCAA DI Track & Field Championships held at the University of Oregon on Friday evening.

Schultze posted her highest-ever finish at the national championships since arriving at Tech. Schultze’s finish earned her First Team All-America honors. The junior is now a six-time All-American and has yet to miss out on All-America honors since coming to Blacksburg to compete. She is now tied for second all-time in All-America honors with former Hokies Queen Harrison and Brittany Pryor. Only Kristi Castlin has been an All-American more times (7).

Leoule Degfae earned a 19th place finish in the men’s 5000-meter race with a time of 14:13.17. Degfae missed out on All-America honors by 10 seconds.

Grant Pollock will be the only Hokie competing for a national championship tomorrow in the men’s 1500-meter race 5:18 p.m. EST.
