Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams are set to compete in the 2014 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of North Carolina on April 17-19.
The Hokies have several competitors in the top of the national rankings so far this season. Eva Vivod holds the top mark nationally in the women’s javelin so far this season. Her throw of 186’4” (56.80m) set a new Virginia Tech school record.
Martina Schultze currently ranks fourth nationally in the women’s pole vault and is the defending ACC Champion in the event.
Stephan Munz and Torben Laidig currently rank in the top 20 nationally in the men’s pole vault. Munz ranks 11th and Laidig ranks 16th.
Tomas Kruzliak, the defending national champion in the men’s hammer throw, currently ranks seventh in the nation with a mark of 225’3” (68.67m).
Several Hokies will be competing tomorrow including Kruzliak in the men’s hammer throw, Annjulie Vester in the women’s hammer throw, Sarah Rapp in the women’s 10,00-meter final and Grant Pollock in the 1500-meter prelims as well as several other competitors.
Competition tomorrow morning begins with the men’s hammer throw and will continue through the conclusion of the men’s 10,000-meter final set to begin at 7:55 p.m.
