Track set for big weekend
Hokies to compete at Raleigh and Texas Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Virginia Tech track & field team will be competing at the Raleigh Relays and the Texas Relays this weekend. The distance runners and sprinters will be at the Raleigh Relays, while the pole vaulters will be at the Texas Relays.

The Texas Relays begin on Thursday. Chris Uhle and Jared Allison will compete on Thursday while Torben Laidig competes Friday in the men’s pole vault. On the women’s side both Martina Schultze and Kristen Lee will compete on Friday.

At the Raleigh Relays, the Hokies will see some of their top runners competing for the first time this outdoor season. Amanda Smith, the indoor champion in the 800-meter race will be competing in the 1500-meter race. Jasmine Mitchell, coming off of her seventh-place finish at the indoor championships, will be competing in the 200-meter and 400-meter races.

On the men’s side, the Hokies will be able to see Tadashi Pinder competing in the 100-meter and 200-meter races as well as Leoule Degfae competing in the 10,000-meter race.
