BOONE, N.C. – Chris Uhle set a personal record in the indoor pole vault en route to a first place finish at the Appalachian Invitational, while Kristen Lee was also able finish in first place in her first collegiate meet.

On the men’s side, Uhle dominated the competition in the pole vault with a mark of 17-00.75 (5.20 m), his personal best and nearly a foot and a half higher than the nearest competitor.

Jared Allison was able to finish in third place with a high vault of 15-01.00 (4.60 m) while teammate Matt Hoogland finished in a tie for fourth with a mark of 14-07.25 (4.45 m).

In her collegiate debut, Lee used a 13-00.25 (3.97 m) mark in the women’s pole vault to lift her to a first place finish. Lee’s vault was six inches higher than the next closest competitor.

Tech’s Erinn Schaal and Leigh Allin finished in a tie for fourth with a 12-00.50 (3.67 m) vault.

Only pole vaulters competed in the meet for Tech. The Hokies will be back in action on Jan. 17 when Tech hosts the Virginia Tech Invitational.
