Virginia Tech’s women’s team was one of 151 institutions honored Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earning team All-Academic distinction. In order to qualify for All-Academic status, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Tech’s squad came in with a cumulative GPA of 3.34.
Last week, seven Tech athletes earned individual All-Academic accolades, including three from the women’s team and four from the men’s. These seven standouts received recognition for earning a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Honorees include Kristi Castlin (Sr., Douglass, Ga.), Hasheem Halim (So., Lilburn, Ga.), Michael Hammond (So., Midlothian, Va.), Matej Muza (Sr., Zagreb, Croatia), Kelly Phillips (r-Jr., Blacksburg, Va.), Asia Washington (Sr., Piscathaway, N.J.), and Alexander Ziegler (Fr., Dischingen, Germany).
