CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech swimming and diving concluded the regular season on the final day of the annual Virginia Tech Invitational Sunday evening as the H₂Okies welcomed the UNC Wilmington Seahawks and the Towson Tigers to the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. The H₂Okies won all the events they competed in.

Senior Adam Skipper was the highlight of the day when he won the 200 breaststroke. Skipper touched the wall with a B standard time of 1:59.38, just .02 seconds short of the Virginia Tech record (1:59.36).

Mackenzie Stewart kept her B cut time streak going from yesterday. The freshman came in at the 2:15.71 mark to win the women’s 200 breaststroke.

Four other Tech women won events today. Caroline Higgins took the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.95, almost four seconds faster than her preliminary time earlier today. Natalee Roseberry won the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.34, while Jayme Katis took home the gold in the 200 IM for the final event.

Jake Ores, Drake Becksted and Brian Rothschild won events for the men. Ores kicked off the evening for the men, winning the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:41.93. Becksted swam a time of 45.17 to win the 100 freestyle, while Rothschild ended the night taking the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.55.

The H₂Okie women will be back in action when they head down to Greensboro, N.C., on Wednesday, Feb. 20 for the 2013 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships, while men will head down a week later in search of their first ACC Championship.
