AUSTIN, TEXAS – Erika Hajnal and Sarah Milton wrapped up the second day of competition today at the Women’s NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas. The H₂Okies are struggling to get going at the national championship and are still looking for their first invitation to the finals.

Junior Erika Hajnal, who placed eighth at last year’s NCAAs and earned All-America honors, finished 34^th in the 400 IM prelims, swimming a 4:16.18. Katinka Hosszu of Southern California picked up the gold medal, swimming an A cut time of 3:59.75.

Senior Sarah Milton moved up the standings in the 3-meter springboard, finishing in 23^rd place with a score of 289.65. However, she was also unable to break into the top 16 and did not advance to the finals. Fellow ACC diver Abby Johnston of Duke took home the gold medal in the 3-meter, scoring a 409.35 in the finals.

After the second of three days, No. 2 California is in the lead with 295 points, followed by yesterday’s leader, No. 1 Georgia, with 274.5 point and No. 5 Southern California with 253. No. 11 Virginia leads all ACC teams in 14^th place (74 pts), followed by No. 12 North Carolina (40 pts), Duke (34 pts), Maryland (31 pts) and Miami (31 pts), in 18^th through 20^th.

The H₂Okies will get their final chance to earn points for Tech in tomorrow’s finale, as Hajnal takes on the 1650 freestyle and Milton climbs up to the platform.
