After wrapping up a four-year playing career with the Hokies, Phil Sciretta joined the Tech baseball staff as a full-time member in July 2016 as the Director of Baseball Operations and now begins his first year in this new role with the team.

As the director of operations, Sciretta is responsible for all logistical and administrative duties for the program. He serves as the liaison between the program and multiple facets within the Athletics Department as well as assists the staff in camp coordination. Sciretta is also responsible for 19 Ways, the team’s community outreach program, and Baseball Night in Blacksburg, an annual preseason dinner and auction event.

While competing for the Hokies from 2013 through 2016, Sciretta played in 139 career games with 90 starts, including all 55 games during the 2016 season. His final season with Tech saw him shatter all his previous season highs, which included 69 hits, 11 doubles, 39 runs scored, 37 RBIs and a .416 slugging percentage while playing a near-flawless first base.

Sciretta was voted a team captain by his teammates during his senior year, was selected as a semifinalist for the 2016 Gregg Olson Award, given annually to the top “breakout player” in the country and was named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Team. He graduated from Tech with a degree in finance.
