In 2008, the Hokies were the media darlings of the softball world after pulling one of the greatest upsets in sports history, beating the U.S. Olympic Team 1-0 to snap a 185-game pre-Olympic exhibition tour winning streak. Later that year, the Hokies rallied to beat Michigan twice on the road to advance to the team's first Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
