OVERLAND PARK, Kans. – Members of the Virginia Tech athletics external team have been honored with national publication awards, as presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Hokies earned best in nation honors for the 2015 Football Media Guide cover and for the online magazine, HokieSports Weekly. Tech also was honored with second-place awards for its 2015 Football Media Guide and 2015 football poster.
Individuals honored for their contributions are Pete Moris, editor, and Stacey Wells, graphic designer, of the Strategic Communications and Publications staffs for the 2015 Football Media Guide cover; Moris, Bryan Johnston, Anne Panella and John Sours for the 2015 Football Media Guide; Grant Duncan, senior director in athletic marketing and promotions for the 2015 football poster; and David Knachel, photographer and editor, Sours and Ben Smith, designers, for the online magazine, HokieSports Weekly.
Contributors to that publication in 2015-16 also included Bill Dyer, April Goode, Marc Mullen, Kelsey Appleton, Evan Nicely, Mary Lee Gibson, Lauren Rakes, Brooke Leonard, Noah Autry, Malik Keaton, Clare Cline, Elizabeth Berg and Matthew Jones.
Voting for the individual awards is conducted by panels comprised of sports media professionals from across the country.
