Hokies announce men's tennis schedule

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head men’s tennis coach Jim Thompson announced the 2017-18 competition schedule.
The Hokies, in the middle of their fall slate, will wrap up tournament play in November closing out with several major events including ITA All-American Championships, ITA Regionals and the ITA National Championships.
Tech will get the spring slate started Jan. 12-14 at the University of Texas MLK Invitational before beginning dual play on Jan. 19, hosting a doubleheader with Liberty and NC A&T.
A trip to Alabama to face the Tide and Penn State, Jan. 26-27 will break up the home stand, but the Hokies will return home for three consecutive doubleheaders: Eastern Kentucky and James Madison (Feb. 2), St. Bonaventure and Richmond (Feb. 10) and Davidson and Gardner-Webb (Feb. 25).
Tech will open the ACC slate on the road for a weekend swing at North Carolina and Duke, March 2 and 4, respectively. The Hokies will return home to host Wake Forest (March 16) and NC State (March 18) before heading back out for four straight ACC road matches: Boston College, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and Clemson.
The Hokies will wrap up dual play at home beginning with Florida State on April 6. Tech will also play host at the end of the season to Miami, VCU and Louisville before the finale against in-state rival Virginia on April 22.
ACC Championships will be April 25-29 in Cary, North Carolina.
