Corbett, Korsgaard make NCAA doubles field

INDIANAPOLIS – Virginia Tech men’s tennis senior Jai Corbett and freshman Henrik Korsgaard have been named to the 2017 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships for doubles as announced Wednesday by the NCAA.

The Tech tandem has been ranked in the doubles for much of the season and is 7-4 this spring. They enter the championships ranked 24th with a season-best win over the then-No. 22 ranked duo from NC State.

Corbett and Korsgaard are one of four ACC duos to earn an at-large bid to the tournament. Wake Forest’s top-ranked pair was the league’s automatic qualifier. The pair had five wins over ranked duos this season.

This is the second consecutive year the Hokies have had a doubles team make the field. Last season Joao Monteiro and Andreas Bjerrehus competed. The singles and doubles championships will take place at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia May 24-29.
