BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team will play in the second part of a doubleheader with the women's soccer team as the Hokies take on Wake Forest at Thompson Field on Friday evening.
Wake Forest comes into the match with a 3-2 (1-0 ACC) record after most recently defeating NC State. The Demon Deacons are led by junior forward Michael Gamble whose eight points (two goals, four assists) leads the team so far this season. Following Gamble, is sophomore Jacori Hayes who has posted five points on the strength of one goal and three assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alec Ferrell has played every minute in goals for Wake Forest this season. He has made 19 saves so far and has a 1.99 goals against average and a .655 save percentage. He has yet to post a shutout this season.
The Hokies continued their balanced offense in the most recent win against UNCG. Freshman Collin Verfurth scored his first career goal moving the squad scoring to seven goals from seven different players. Tech is now 3-2 (0-1 ACC) on the season. The Hokies are led by junior Brad Vorv, whose five points (one goal, three assists), leads the team.
Freshman goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard and senior goalkeeper Ben Lockler have combined this season for a .778 save percentage and 27 saves. Lundgaard has posted two shutouts this season.
