BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team travels to Radford, Va. tomorrow to take on the Radford Highlanders in their final exhibition match of the 2013 season.
The Hokies are coming off of a 5-0 victory over the Liberty Flames in their first exhibition. In that match, freshmen Brandon Eaton and Leon Ungewickel, sophomore Kai Marshall and junior Cameron Owens all scored goals in a winning effort that saw the Hokies outshoot the Flames 17-5.
The Highlanders are coming off a 2-0 loss to No. 25 Virginia in their first exhibition. At halftime, the game was level but after a miscue from the Highlander goalkeeper and a header off of a corner kick, both in the second half, Virginia was able to earn the win.
The 2012 season saw the Highlanders finish with a 10-6-1 record. Radford ended up second in the Big South Conference during the regular season before falling in the semifinal round of the Big South Tournament to Winthrop.
Senior Bernardo Ulmo, who scored 11 goals and registered three assists last season en route to earning a First Team All-Big South Conference nod as well as an NSCAA Division I All-South Atlantic Regional Third-Team selection, leads the Highlanders.
