BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior defender Koen Oost was one of 30 student-athletes named to the 2010 All-ACC Academic Soccer Team, announced by the conference office Friday. To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
Oost, a native of Duurstede, Netherlands, started all 19 games for the Hokies in the backfield while still providing offensive power, including a game-tying score in the eventual 4-2 victory over Alabama A&M. He totaled six shots, three on goal, good for a .500 shots-on-goal percentage.
The men’s soccer spring schedule kicks off on March 19 in Martinsville, Va., with the Smith River Men’s College Showcase. Tech plays two matches, the first at 12:30 p.m. against Appalachian State, the second against High Point University at 4 p.m.
