Hokies finish out their fall season in Greensboro
Men's golf returns to North Carolina to compete at Grandover

The Virginia Tech men’s golf team will compete in the UNCG Grandover Collegiate this weekend. The two-day event will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the par 72, 7,245-yard East Course at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
This year’s tournament will feature a strong regional field. The 10-team field consists of four ACC teams, including No. 24 UNC, No. 28 Duke and No. 31 NC State. Rounding out the field will be Georgia State, Kansas State, Loyola Maryland, Northwestern, host UNCG and VCU.
Starting off for the Hokies will be Mark Lawrence Jr. The junior from Richmond, Virginia finished in a tie for 15th place at 4-under last week in Tennessee. He previously finished in a tie for 12th place at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. On the final day, Lawrence tied his collegiate low and season-best for the Hokies of 6-under 66. He leads the Hokies in scoring average and Crunch Time average.
Playing second for Tech will be Connor Burgess. The freshman from Lynchburg, Virginia tied for 20th place last week in Tennessee. He also tied for 23rd place at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate, following his second-place finish at VCU in mid-September. He is second on the team in stroke average
Playing in the third spot will be Sarit Suwannarut. The sophomore from Bangkok, Thailand has started every event in his collegiate career and made the NCAA regionals last season as an individual.
Blake Fiest, a junior from Huntersville, North Carolina will play in the fourth spot for the Hokies. Last week, he tied for 43rd place in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. He previously tied for 33rd at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. He is third on the team in stroke average and and second Crunch Time average.
Rounding out the line-up for Tech will be Slade Pickering. The freshman from North West, South Africa has been a regular in the line-up most of his first collegiate semester. He tied for 71st last week in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
Tom Crow, Ian Hildebrand and Dan Woodbury will compete as individuals. Hildebrand, the senior from Purcellville, Virginia, played last week’s event as an individual and tied for 59th and has been in the starting lineup twice this fall. Woodbury and Crow are making their second appearances of the fall.
The tournament is two-day, 54-hole event. Each round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with shotgun starts. Live Stats will be available on Hokiesports.com, via a link from Golfstat.com.
