Connor Burgess ties for third at Jr. Stroke Play Championship

Virginia Tech men’s golfer Connor Burgess posted a three-round total of 1-under 215 and finished tied for third place at the Virginia State Golf Association’s Junior Stroke Play Championship on Thursday. The three-day event was played at the par 72, 6,690-yard Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Virginia.
Burgess, an incoming freshman from Lynchburg, Virginia, carded a 1-over 73 in Thursday’s final round. He finished three strokes behind medalist Teddy Zinsner and one stroke behind Connor Creasy. Burgess tied Christopher Zhang for third place.
Burgess was looking to join teammates Mark Lawrence Jr. (2015), Tom Crow (2014) and Logan Yates (2013) as State Junior Stroke Play champions. Tech graduates Marshall Bailey (2006) and Ryan Sypniewski (2001) have also won the title since 2000.
