Logan Yates in third place entering final round at State Open of Virginia

Logan Yates has a two round total of 5-under 139 and is in third place after two rounds of the 2017 Delta Dental State Open of Virginia. The three-round tournament is being played at the par 72, 6,946-yard Ballyhack Golf Club in Roanoke, Virginia.
Yates, a rising junior from Ruckersville, Virginia posted a 3-under 69 on Friday, following a 70 on Thursday. He trails leader Michael Brennan by four strokes and first round leader Ji Soo Park by two strokes. Yates holed out for an eagle on No. 12 on Saturday. Four of the top five golfers, including the top three, are amateurs.
Mark Lawrence Jr., a rising junior from Richmond, Virginia, is tied for fourth at 4-under 140. Tom Crow, a rising sophomore from Virginia Beach, Virginia and Ian Hildebrand, a rising senior from Purcellville Virginia, are tied for 20th at 148. Following the second round, the field was cut to the low 60 and ties.
Lawrence and Yates are currently the top two ranked amateurs by the VSGA. Lawrence was the low amateur last year and tied for second place after falling in a two-hole playoff.
The third and final round will be played Saturday morning.
