Three Hokie golfers honored by state coaches
Vincent, Cone repeat on first team, Huge earns second team honors

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech golfers Scott Vincent and Trevor Cone were named first team All-State by the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association on Friday. Maclain Huge was a second team selection by the organization.

Joining Cone and Vincent on the All-State first team are Mathieu Fenasse (Liberty), Denny McCarthy (Virginia) and Derek Bard (Virginia). Joining Huge on the second team are Adam Ball (VCU), Ji Soo Park (Virginia), Isaiah Logue (Liberty), and Jimmy Stanger (Virginia).

This is Vincent’s third year on the All-State first team. The senior from Harare, Zimbabwe, led the team in scoring average at 70.94 and was named honorable mention All-America. Cone, a senior from Concord, North Carolina, makes the first team for the second consecutive season and was a second team selection as a sophomore. He was second on the Hokies in scoring average at 71.17 and was ACC co-champion this season, as well as being named honorable mention All-America. Huge, a junior from Lovettesville, Virginia, was third on the team in scoring average at 73.09 and finished in the top 20 of six of the team’s events this season, including a second-place finish at VCU. Cone and Vincent also earned All-ACC and All-East Region honors.
