Men's golf named All-Academic team by GCAA
Third consecutive year on the list for the Hokies

NORMAN, Okla. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team was named a 2015 All-Academic team, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. Tech is one of 90 Division I teams to be so honored this season.

To be honored, a team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher. A total of 169 teams in all divisions, including junior colleges, submitted a GPA of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPA for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

The Hokies have had multiple individual golfers earn academic awards this season. This is the third year in a row the program has been awarded the honor.

Tech joins fellow ACC teams Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Notre Dame and Virginia on the list. Embry-Riddle Arizona, an NAIA school, was named the Academic National Champions this season with a total GPA of 3.75. Harvard won the Division I title. Twenty-four teams received President’s Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better, a new all-time high for the awards.
