NORMAN, Okla. – Virginia Tech golfers Scott Vincent and Trevor Cone have been named 2015 PING All-America, as selected by a committee of the Golf Coaches Association of America. Both players were honorable mention this year and each was named to the All-East Region team last month.
Vincent, a senior from Harare, Zimbabwe, led the Hokies in scoring average and crunch time scoring this past season. He won the Puerto Rico Classic in February and had four top five finishes in his senior season. He played in four NCAA Regionals, finishing fourth at the Noblesville Regional earlier this month. He was named the ACC Player of the Month for February 2015. He finished his career as the leader on the Virginia Tech all-time scoring list.
Cone, a senior from Concord, North Carolina, was the ACC co-champion this season. He was second on the team in scoring average and crunch time scoring as a senior. He also posted four top five finishes this season, paced by his victory at the 2015 ACC Men’s Golf Championship. He is a four-year starter for the Hokies and competed in his fourth NCAA Regional this season. He was named the ACC Co-Player of the Month for April 2015. He finished his career second on the Virginia Tech all-time scoring list.
Cone was named to the PING All-America third team last season and Vincent was a first team selection in 2014. Cone and Vincent are two of 10 ACC players honored this season.
