HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Virginia Tech golfer Scott Vincent posted a four-round total of even-par 284 and finished in a tie for 64th place at the RBC Heritage Classic on Sunday. The PGA Tour event was played this week at the Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Vincent, a senior from Harare, Zimbabwe, completed his week at Hilton Head with a 2-over-par 73 on Sunday. He carded a 71 on Saturday and had identical 1-under 70 in the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday. This was Vincent’s debut in a PGA Tour-sponsored event.
Vincent started the day from the 10th tee and was 3-over-par at the turn. He then posted two birdies and a bogey on his second nine to finish at 73.
PGA Tour veteran and fellow Zimbabwean Brendon de Jonge joined Vincent in playing the weekend. He posted an even-par 71 on Sunday and finished with an 8-under 276 and finished in a tie for 18th place.
Jim Furyk defeated Kevin Kisner on the second playoff hole to claim the championship. Both finished at 18-under. The final round was moved up to an earlier start on Sunday in order to avoid expected inclement weather in the area.
