Hokies wrap-up regular season at Yale
Scott Vincent to miss event to play in PGA Tour's RBC Heritage

Blacksburg, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team wraps up the 2014-15 regular season this weekend with an appearance in the Yale Spring Invitational. The event, hosted by Yale University, will be played at the par 70, 6,850-yard at The Yale Course.

This is the final regular season event for the Hokies. The Yale Course will host a 2015 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional May 14-17. This year’s Yale Spring Invitational field has been bolstered by six ACC teams competing just one week prior to the ACC Men’s Golf Championship. Along with the Hokies and host Bulldogs, the field consists of Boston College, Brown, Clemson, UConn, Duke, Hartford, Harvard, Michigan State, Towson, Virginia and Wake Forest.

The Hokies will be competing without Scott Vincent. The senior from Harare, Zimbabwe will miss the tournament due to his exemption into the RBC Heritage Classic, a PGA Tour event this weekend in Hilton Head, South Carolina. A first-team All-American in 2014, Vincent is currently ranked 67th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and 79th in the Golfstat.com rankings. Vincent was the February 2015 ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month after winning the Puerto Rico Classic to open the spring season.

Trevor Cone, a senior from Concord, North Carolina, will play in the first position for Tech. A 2015 third-team All-American, Cone is currently ranked 71st by Golfstat.com and 73rd by Golfweek/Sagarin. Cone has three top five finishes and an additional three top 10 finishes in his senior season, most recently finishing tied for sixth at the 3M Augusta Invitational two weeks ago.

Maclain Huge, a junior from Lovettesville, Virginia, will play second for the Hokies. Huge finished seventh at Mission Inn earlier this spring and had a second-place finish at VCU in the fall. This is Huge’s first appearance in the top two of the Virginia Tech line-up.

Drew Johnson, a sophomore from Oak Ridge, North Carolina, moves up to the third position for the Hokies. Johnson has started multiple events this season, including the first two events of the spring slate. Johnson opened the 2014-15 season with a top 25 finish at VCU.

Joey Lane, a sophomore from Great Falls, Virginia, returns to the Tech line-up this weekend, and will play in his customary fourth position. Lane was in the line-up during the 2014 postseason and during the first eight events of the 2014-15 season. He is currently fourth on the team in scoring and finished tied for 16th at Mission Inn earlier this spring.

Dan Woodbury, a freshman from Upton, Massachusetts, will play in the fifth position for Tech. Woodbury will be making his fourth appearance of his freshman campaign and second of the spring. He had his best finish at UNCG Bridgestone to close out the fall with a 22nd place finish.

There will be a practice round on Friday, followed by 36 holes of play on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. There will be no live stats available.
