JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team was still on the course at the 17th Annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at Blackthorn Club when play was suspended on Friday afternoon.

Torrential rains in the Eastern Tennessee area saturated the course and made play impossible in the afternoon. The first round was suspended at 1:50 p.m., and will resume at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. The second round of the tournament will commence on Saturday, following completion of the first round.

At the suspension of play on Friday, Virginia Tech was in eighth place, but no Hokie had completed more than nine holes. Three teams were able to complete their first rounds on Friday.

The event, hosted by East Tennessee State, is being played at the Arthur Hills-designed, 7,147-yard, par 72 Blackthorn Club. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
