NORMAN, Okla. – The Virginia Tech men’s golf team was named an All-Academic team presented by Farmers Insurance Group of Companies, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Wednesday. Tech is one of 81 Division I teams to be so honored this season.

To be honored, a team must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher. A total of 141 teams in all divisions, including junior colleges, submitted a GPA of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition. To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPA for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

The Hokies have had multiple individual golfers earn academic awards this season. This is the second year in a row the program has been awarded the honor.

Tech joins fellow ACC teams Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Virginia on the list, as well as ACC-newcomer Louisville. Dodge City was named the Academic National Champions this season with a total GPA of 3.82. Nineteen other teams also received President’s Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better, matching the high also met last season.
