Vincent named to All-Nicklaus team
Hokie junior golfer earns national honor

NORMAN, Okla. – Virginia Tech golfer Scott Vincent has been named to the 2014 All-Nicklaus Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The 24 honorees from Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA were recognized for their outstanding play during the past collegiate season.

Vincent, a junior from Harare, Zimbabwe, was an All-ACC, All-East Region and first team All-America selection earlier this season. He is ranked 10th in the final Golfstat Cup rankings, 11th in the final Golfstat.com Division I rankings and 15th in the final Golfweek/Sagarin ranking. Vincent finished tied for 35th at the 2014 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas and finished third in the 2014 NCAA Auburn Regional. He finished sixth at the 61st Annual ACC Men’s Golf Championships in April.

During the 2013-14 season, Vincent became the first golfer in Virginia Tech history to win three individual tournament titles in a season. He won the season-opener at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, the VCU Shootout and the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Vincent had six top five finishes and nine top 10 finishes in 12 events this season and was named the ACC Player of the Month in September.

Vincent led the Hokies in scoring average this season at 70.51 and was second in Crunch Time average at 70.00. He is the Virginia Tech all-time leader in scoring average and has played in three NCAA regionals and two NCAA national championships in his time in Blacksburg. The Hokies were the ninth seed in the 2014 NCAA Championships and won three tournaments during the regular season.

Vincent was one of 10 Division I players on the team and one of only two ACC golfers honored. The All-Nicklaus Team was created in 2008, and is not only named for history’s greatest player but also a long-time supporter of collegiate and amateur golf, Jack Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at The Ohio State University.
