HUTCHINSON, Kans. – Virginia Tech golfer Scott Vincent has been named a PING First-Team All-America, as selected by a committee of the Golf Coaches Association of America. Vincent is the first-ever Hokie to garner first team honors from the GCAA.

Vincent, a junior from Harare, Zimbabwe, is ranked eighth by Golfstat and 16th by Golfweek/Sagarin. Vincent finished tied for 35th at the 2014 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships this week in Hutchinson, Kansas and finished third in the 2014 NCAA Auburn Regional on May 17. He finished sixth at the 61st Annual ACC Men’s Golf Championships in April.

During the 2013-14 season, Vincent became the first golfer in school history to win three individual tournament titles in a season. He won the season-opener at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, the VCU Shootout and the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Vincent had six top five finishes and nine top 10 finishes in 12 events this season. He was named the ACC Player of the Month in September and earned All-ACC and All-East Region honors earlier this month.

Vincent led the Hokies in scoring average this season at 70.51 and was second in Crunch Time average at 70.00. He is the Virginia Tech all-time leader in scoring average and has played in three NCAA regionals and two NCAA national championships in his time in Blacksburg. The Hokies were the ninth seed in the 2014 NCAA Championships and won three tournaments during the regular season.

The GCAA announced only the first team honorees today. They will announce the second and third teams later this month. Vincent is one of two Atlantic Coast Conference golfers on the first team.
