GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech shot a three-round total of 22-over-par 566 and tied with NC State and Mississippi for fourth place at the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate at the par 72, 7,245-yard Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. on Sunday. Tech shot even-par 288 in Saturday’s morning round and followed that with a 298 in the afternoon round, before finishing with a 12-over-par 300 on Sunday.

Sophomore Scott Vincent (Harare, Zimbabwe) tied for sixth place individually after posting a two-under-par 214. His finished seven strokes behind medalist Chris Robb of Chattanooga.

Junior Bryce Chalkley (Richmond, Va.) tied for 19th place at 221 and senior Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) tied for 25th at 222. Sophomore Trevor Cone (Concord, N.C.) tied for 45th at 229 and freshman Maclain Huge (Lovettesville, Va.) finished in 61st place at 234. Redshirt junior Jacob Everts (Ooltewah, Tenn.) played the event as an individual and tied for 63rd at 236.

Mississippi State shot the best round of the day, a one-over-par 289 and overtook Chattanooga for the team title. The Bulldogs shot a three-round total of three-under-par 861 and defeated the Mocs by four strokes and Iowa State by five strokes. The Hokies, Rebels and Wolfpack tied for fourth at 886, Purdue was seventh at 888 and Georgia State and Maryland tied for eighth at 890. VCU was 10th at 891, host UNC Greensboro was 11th at 895, Eastern Michigan was 12th at 905 and Boston College finished 13th at 906.

This was the Hokies’ final event of the fall season. In Fall 2012, Tech won two events and posted top five finishes in two of the other three tournaments in which they competed. Vincent competed in four events in the fall for the Hokies and finished in the top six in three of the four tournaments. The Hokies return to action on Feb. 17-19, 2013, as they will compete in the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Country Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
